Dr. Durante’s training in a variety of settings (residential, outpatient, community mental health, and schools) has guided her approach to therapy and consultation. She specializes in working with children, adolescents and their caregivers. Her practice is guided by the principle that behavior is a form of communication. Dr. Durante uses play therapy as a modality to communicate with young children, and incorporates mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy, social skills training, and exposure response prevention with older children and adolescents.

Dr. Durante views the home and school environments as critical to the mental health of the child. With this in mind, Dr. Durante supports caregivers in a variety of ways, including helping them to set healthy boundaries, strengthen parent-child relationships, better understand their child’s behavior as communication, recognize and change parenting practices that have enabled maladaptive behaviors, support their child’s competency, and practice much needed self-care. Dr. Durante also provides school consultation services, and is able to attend onsite school meetings when appropriate.

Dr. Durante accepts BCBS, Cigna, Optum/UBH, MVP, and VT Medicaid. She welcomes inquiries about any of the services that she offers and may be reached via email at gdurante@StoneHouseAssociates.com or by telephone at (802) 654-7607 ext 3.
