Program, is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in Vermont and a member
of NBCC.
Gail has fifteen years experience specializing in the area of grief, loss and
transition and traumatic loss with children, teens and adults. Traumatic loss
includes persons who have experienced the sudden death of a family member or
friend due to murder, suicide , accidental death or death due to war, and
persons with grief issues arising from sexually inappropriate behavior.
Other areas of focus in Gail's practice are end of life issues, domestic violence, divorce, stress management, child/adult child of alcoholic issues, women's issues and managing difficult behaviors. Gail provides support for family members and friends who have loved ones participating in the war.
Gail
has been a counselor for the Hospice Program, serves as a consultant to schools
and businesses, conducts seminars, facilitates grief support groups and speaks
nationally on grief issues with children and teens. When appropriate in the
therapeutic process, Gail introduces play, artmaking, sandplay/worldplay, music
and journaling in age-appropriate ways. Gail is trained in mindful awareness
meditation practice and invites adults to participate as a way of managing
anxiety.
Gail also is trained in Advanced Reiki, Healing Touch and Energy Medicine.
When clinically indicated and in age-appropriate ways, Gail offers focused
therapeutic work in combination with artmaking and energy work to augment the
healing process in children, teens and adults. While maintaining strict
confidentiality between Gail and the child or teen, parents are required to
participate in the energy work portion of the session as a way to support the
child or teen. To facilitate self-care at home for all clients who participate
in energy work, Gail includes suggestions for daily energy work. Gail encourages
the
parent(s) and the child or teen to do the energy work together at home.
